Can’t escape from art: Free Like a Paper Toy

78x32x30 cm, 2014.

Cage installation with a small reproduction of the painting “Free Like a Paper Toy”, (mixed media on canvas, 200×200 cm, 2010.). Part of the bigger project under the title Can’t escape from art, where each work consist of a cage, one prisoner and a small painting. Spaces between the bars one the cage are big enough for the one inside to get out. He’s a prisoner only at first glance. His attention is captured by something and looks like he doesn’t perceive how easy is to try to escape. His gaze is glued to the painting hanging from the top of the cage. Painting, although small, is on canvas and stretched on the frame.

Prisoner symbolizes the artist in front of the world and multitude of options and directions he can go, but he remains loyal to his cage and his perception. Because even if he goes outside, he would see the same picture.
